Arsenal wiped the floor in Premier League on Sunday afternoon with red lantern Nottingham Forest: 5-0. With the big win, the Gunners are once again running ahead of Manchester City in the standings, but afterwards in North London there were mainly concerns about the injury of Bukayo Saka.
Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring after five minutes. On Saka’s cross, he buffed the opening goal past Forrest goalkeeper Henderson. Martinelli celebrated his opening goal by paying tribute to Pablo Mari, who was involved in a stabbing incident at a supermarket near Milan last Thursday. Mari is owned by Arsenal and currently on loan at Monza. The defender was released from hospital earlier in the day.
Reiss Nelson (two), Thomas Partey and captain Martin Odegaard scored the other goals for the Gunners, where Mikel Arteta did not allow Albert Sambi Lokonga to play. Orel Mangala suffered the same fate at Nottingham Forrest.
But the moment of the match came in minute 27. After Bukayo Saka’s life was ruined all along by the Nottingham defence, he now sat down after spraining his ankle. Bad news for Arsenal that the 21-year-old winger, who has already racked up 4 goals and 5 assists in 12 games this season in the league, may be out for a while.
With the World Cup less than a month away, it is anxious to see whether Saka’s injury is not too bad. National coach Southgate undoubtedly holds his heart.
