RC Lens made it to Toulouse with a dry 3-0 score on Friday evening, with Brecht Dejaegere (ex-Ghent) in the base. Lois Openda (ex-Club) took on all three goals after the break as a substitute. This three-pointer puts Lens in second place in Ligue 1 and is two points behind Paris-Saint Germain, who still play on Saturday.
The 22-year-old attacker came on against Toulouse ten minutes after the break and single-handedly secured the 3-0 victory with a clean hat trick (60., 87., 90.+3). For the ex-Bruggeling, for example, a series of six matches without a goal comes to an end.
After his excellent start to the season, with four goals in six games, Openda’s form had declined somewhat in recent weeks. His last goal was on September 4, on the sixth day of play. The ex-Bruggeling started on the bench against Toulouse. With his three goals, he once again put himself in the spotlight and explicitly applied for a starting place and a place in the World Cup selection.
