| Real Madrid win in the final phase of Seville partly due to a cannonball from Valverde

Real Madrid seemed to choke on Sevilla for a while, but eventually won 3-1 at home. Real Madrid took the lead themselves but then became a bit laconic. It resulted in a goal against Erik Lamela. The Royals woke up just in time and won the game with goals from Lucas Vasquez and Federico Valverde.

Real Madrid were still in the festive mood after striker Karin Benzema won the Ballon D’or of the week. At the same award ceremony, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was chosen as the best goalkeeper of the year. When Real came around, they started to play a lot quieter and they even became a bit lax. With some stars on the bench, Carlo Ancelotti watched as his team threatened to give away a lead.

He got the ball on edge 16 and fired a cannonball at goalkeeper Bono, who could only hear the ball whizzing past him.
