New disgrace for Liverpool: old acquaintance Taiwo Awoniyi kicks red lantern Nottingham Forest to victory, Orel Mangala falls in

Liverpool lost 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at the field of Nottingham Forest, the very last before the game in the Premier League. Taiwo Awoniyi, who we still know from Mouscron and Ghent, scored the only goal of the afternoon. A great moment for the Nigerian striker, who was brought to Europe by Liverpool in 2015 but never played a game at The Reds.

Liverpool dominated for a large part of the game and even had 76 percent possession, but failed to score. In minute 55, Jürgen Klopp’s team got the lid on its nose. After a free kick in midfield, the ball ended up in Awoniyi’s feet. First he kicked the post, but the rebound went in. Wonderful moment for the Nigerian.

Another painful defeat for Liverpool, which has had a particularly difficult start to the competition. The victories in the past two league games and the win in the Champions League against Rangers (1-7) have already been forgotten. In the standings, Liverpool are seventh after eleven games, but after this weekend they can also drop back to tenth place.

Mangala substitute

At Nottingham Forest, Orel Mangala had to settle for ten minutes on Saturday afternoon. Our 24-year-old compatriot was allowed to defend the lead. He has already played for the Red Devils twice, but his chance of going to the World Cup in Qatar seems small.

Nottingham Forest jumps back to nineteenth place thanks to the win against Liverpool (for the time being) over Leicester City.
