Max Verstappen after disappointing free practice: ‘There is still plenty of room for improvement’

Max Verstappen stayed in the pits for a long time during free practice in Singapore. Many adjustments were needed to his car, he said afterwards. He doesn’t seem to mind very much: “There is plenty of room for improvement.” It was more of a test for his team.

“We wanted to try a few things, but it took a little longer to implement those adjustments. When we wanted to do something else afterwards, that took some time again.” He is referring to the 2 long periods that he stayed in the pits, at the start of the race and after 3 laps on his hards when he also went back in for a long time.

‘Not representative’
Where he finished neatly in P2 in VT1, that was a 4th place in VT2. Partly because of the 2 short stints he had. “It was not really representative what we showed in VT2. We are now going to analyze whether the adjustments we had made are good or not,” said the year-old driver.
