Club NXT leads by example and completely rolls Bayer Leverkusen into Youth League

In Roeselare it is still not completely over that they have lost their trusted Schiervelde for 30 years to Club Brugge, which – admittedly – made a fine litter of it. “The Nest”, because that’s the name of Schiervelde, now more than ever it is home to the young violence of Club. “It really feels like our home,” says Romeo Vermant, striker of Club NXT and son of club icon Sven. “Last season we only lost once, we want to keep it that way.”

Beerschot, however, acted as a bummer and won last Saturday in “The Nest” with 1-2 and a goal that would never have been disapproved with VAR technology. In the Youth League, the youngsters beat Leipzig in the home games last season and kept PSG and Manchester City in check. Club NXT would eventually be eliminated by Midtjylland in February and missed a ticket for the eighth finals. Now they want to do better, but for that they have to survive the group stage. Perfectly possible with all the talent present. For example, Club NXT can show off with Joel Ordonez in the back, before many millions were paid this summer. The defender from Ecuador sometimes dares to be a bit nonchalant, but if Club can sell Sylla for a lot of money, this Ordonez must be ready for the big work.

Against the course of the game

Another boy with enormous potential is Chemsdine Talbi. The attacking midfielder created the first danger with the head against Leverkusen. Club NXT was the better team and Engels also had a cross shot and Van Rafelghem threatened in the initial phase on Sabbe’s pass. Against the course of the game, the Germans took the lead when the powerful Sertdemir goalkeeper caught Vroman in his short corner.

The signal for the home team to accelerate even more and in 20 minutes the lopsided situation was rectified: the 0-1 was converted into 3-1. Spileers first extended Engels’ free kick into goal and Vermant converted Club’s mastery into a second goal on a pass from Talbi, who scored the third goal himself a few minutes later.

Unnecessary second half

The Germans were literally and figuratively transfixed and had no answer in the house. The result was an unnecessary second half, especially when Keano Van Rafelghem thanked Kyriani Sabbe’s assist and brought the Bruges counter to four. Bayer KO and much more than running behind the ball and trying to disrupt the Bruges machine was no longer possible for the Germans.

The visiting goalkeeper kept Vermant from a fifth Bruges goal and pushed his attempt into a corner. His neighbor Vroman remained unemployed for most of the afternoon, although he cleverly processed a German shot into a corner in added time.
