Good news for the Club fans: “Noa Lang wants to stay in Bruges”

A bit of panic yesterday, when Noa Lang dropped out at Club Brugge. But we shouldn’t worry, his mother says. Even if he misses a transfer, he won’t sulk. “He’s already flipped the switch.”

Yesterday it was the match of Hans Vanaken (29), who still hopes for a transfer, but helped Club Brugge pass KV Kortrijk with a fine performance. West Ham, which has had a painful start to the season with 0 out of 9, and needs offensive reinforcements, meanwhile increased its bid. And there is an opening, if they find a full-fledged replacement in blue-black.

But Noa Lang (23) was also in the picture yesterday, unfortunately for the wrong reason. The Dutch attacker came in after the break, but immediately fell out with a sprained ankle. After being treated, he played on for a while, but he still had to get off and limped inside. Panic, because just like De Ketelaere, he was aiming for a top transfer. Imagine that, as with Tissoudali (AA Gent), you miss out on a great deal due to a serious injury. But the damage seemed to be minor. His mother, Manon de Vries, also had this idea.

Reasons enough

“I had Noa on the phone,” she told us. “He will undergo tomorrow (today, ed.) another scan, but he could already lean on his left foot and walk, so that’s good. His ankle felt stiff, but he was also chatting about other things. That’s usually a good sign. (laugh) Hopefully now too.”

And we don’t have to worry about that transfer at all, she says. “Of course Noa wants to go to the foreign top one day, but now there are only ten days left, which is very short. And he will only leave if the right club knocks. If not, he just stays. Is he at peace with that? That’s still putting it mildly. Noa is loved in Bruges, enjoys living there, is close to his family, six Champions League matches are coming up again and there is also a World Cup, which makes it important that he plays. You can be sure: he is happy and wants to stay another year. He does not have transfer problems in his head. He has already flipped that switch.”

That was evident on the field. Last week at OHL, he came in with great eagerness. Yesterday again, until that injury threw a spanner in the works.

Boyata tekent

Clubs had been informed from England and Italy in recent weeks and his self-composed Team Lang is ready to complete something, so it will of course have to wait until September 1. In the meantime, they can no longer wait at Club, which still has to fill a few positions. As expected, it will strengthen in the center back with Dedryck Boyata (31). The Red Devil arrived yesterday and if he passes his medical tests, he will sign for two years.

Apart from Vanaken, another midfielder needs to be added (Sander Berge and Nicolas Raskin are options) and a striker (Rasmus Höjlund is a track).
