Leeds United must say goodbye to Kalvin Phillips. The child of the club makes the switch to Manchester City where he signs a contract of no less than 6 years. The Manchester club transfers £42 million and also sends Darko Gyabi to Leeds, says Fabrizio Romano.
The 26-year-old midfielder played with the youth of Leeds from 2014 and made a stormy development from 2018, especially since the arrival of Marco Bielsa. He now moves to Manchester City, because he only wanted to play under Guardiola. “That I can now learn a lot from him is something I am really looking forward to. City is a world-class club and the facilities are also top. It is a dream to play here.”
Txiki Begiristain, the football affairs director of the Citizens said Phillips is a fantastic addition to the squad: “He reads the game very well, with great energy and great drive he is a great talent eager to win.”
Gyabi is an 18-year-old midfielder who played for City’s youth. The Ghanaian Englishman signs a 4-year contract with Leeds.
