Frenzied crowd, masterful points and… gossip: ‘Special K’ Kyrgios and Kokkinakis do it again at the Australian Open

At the Australian Open, tennis fans are currently looking forward to nothing more than a double match between Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis. The two local heroes qualify for the quarterfinals on Sunday in front of a frenzied crowd.

In the previous round, the two, who go through tennis life as ‘Special K’, were still too strong for the first seeded Down Under. Now Ariel Behar and Gonzalo Escobar had to believe it. In the quarterfinals they look Tim Pütz and Michael Venus, the sixth seed, in the eye.

The Melbourne Park was again sold out for the match of Kyrgios and Kokkinakis, who won in three sets after an extremely pleasant spectacle: 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
