Kirsten Flipkens wins World Team Tennis in singles and doubles

Kirsten Flipkens has won both the singles and doubles at the World Team Tennis in Indian Wells on Friday. She made such a big contribution to her team’s New York Empire victory against Chicago Smash.

De Kempense defeated Australian Alexandra Osborne in singles 5-3. She also competed in the women’s doubles. Alongside Quinn Gleason, she recorded a 5-4 win against Osborne and Alexa Guarachi.

NY Empire won the game against Chicago Smash 24-20. Kim Clijsters did not play.

Despite the win, New York Empire remains fifth and last in the standings with three wins and eight defeats. Springfield Lasers leads with eight wins and three losses. The top two (of five teams) qualify for the final. NY Empire will play one last time against San Diego Aviators on Saturday.
