38-year-old Clijsters won her third singles victory against CoCo Vandeweghe. The 29-year-old American, at the beginning of 2018 still the number 9 in the world but now 173rd in the WTA ranking, lost 5-0.

Next, Kirsten Flipkens and American Christopher Eubanks won 5-4 in the mixed doubles. Clijsters and Flipkens played a double match together, which they lost 5-2 to Vandeweghe and Caroline Dolehide.

New York Umpire remains last in the standings with two wins and six losses. The Springfield Lasers (6z-2n) and the Orange County Breakers (5z-3n) are first and second, respectively. Those two teams are virtually in the final that is scheduled after the group stage. There are still four duels on the program for Clijsters and co.

All World Team Tennis matches are played at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California. The competition runs until November 28.
