PSG will face Angers without most South Americans: the chance for Wijnaldum?

Paris Saint-Germain will play Angers on Friday evening. Another South American World Cup qualifying round was completed on Thursday-Friday night (Dutch time), so a few big names won’t be competing at PSG. Meanwhile, Georginio Wijnaldum is fighting hard for a spot in the starting lineup. Is this the right moment for the Dutchman?

These 5 players came into action last night: Marquinhos, Leandro Paredes, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria. Especially the absence of Paredes sounds nice for Wijnaldum, were it not for the fact that Paredes only played 2 games this season (in the competition).

Still, the Dutchman can still hope. The absence of Marquinhos may be absorbed in the back by a midfielder, leaving a spot in the midriff. Danilo Pereira, for example, could do that. On the other hand, PSG has 2 excellent reserves with Abdou Diallo and Thilo Kehrer.

PSG miss Neymar, Messi and Di Maria in the front. Big star Kylian Mbappe is there, as is Mauro Icardi. The Argentine was not selected for his country. Wijnaldum could theoretically be used as a hanging winger.

Wijnaldum started as a basic player at PSG, but is now mainly a substitute. The match PSG – Angers is Friday evening at 21:00.
