Basketball Vlaanderen is responding to the 3X3 hype and is organizing a 3X3 club competition for the first time next season.
The dates of the first tournaments are already known. In 2021 there will already be a preliminary round on 30 and 31 October and a final round on 26 December. In 2022 there will be a preliminary round on 14 and 15 May and a final round on 29 May. Basketball Flanders wants to respond to the success of 3X3 basketball. Worldwide, this discipline is gaining more and more popularity and since last summer it has also been included in the Olympic program. The 3X3 Lions finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics.
World Cup in 2022 in Antwerp
In June 2022, the 3X3 World Championship will take place in Antwerp (Groenplaats). As the host nation, the 3X3 Cats and Lions are directly qualified for the 3X3 World Championship to be held the week of June 20. For two years, the women of China became world champions. The men’s title went to America.
