After two years, Filou Oostende will say goodbye to general manager Marie De Clerck (46) with immediate effect. Her successor is Jürgen Vanpraet (51).
Marie De Clerck was informed that Filou Oostende is ending the collaboration with her with immediate effect. The record national champion is working on a new structure following the entry into the BNXT league, a competition with the best clubs from Belgium and the Netherlands. Reportedly, De Clerck was not always able to meet the expectations of the directors.
Marie De Clerck ended up at Filou Oostende in January 2019 when chairman Johan Verborgh noticed her as an applicant for a position in the Economic House of the city by the sea. Marie De Clerck got to know the entire club operation for six months in 2019 through the then club coordinator Marijke Schaepelinck. She then took charge of the club. Marie De Clerck, herself a former basketball player, quickly combined her position of general manager with that of communication manager, sports manager (after the resignation of Philip Debaere in the summer of 2019) and president of the fan club. Since March 2021, Marie De Clerck (CD&V) was again alderman in Wevelgem.
Jürgen Vanpraet, European director of Think Pink – an umbrella organization for breast cancer organizations – succeeds Marie De Clerck as general manager of the record national champion. Until now, Vanpraet was a board member and press officer of Filou Oostende.
