Aster Vranckx trained for the first time on Thursday at his new club Wolfsburg, the number four in the Bundesliga last season. In the interim season, 18-year-old Vranckx made the switch from KV Mechelen, the club for which he played in the Jupiler Pro League for the past two years. Mechelen received eight million euros for the transfer.
On Wednesday, Koen Casteels, the second Belgian at Wolfsburg, already started his preparation. The goalkeeper, who had a top season last season, was surprisingly not in the European Championship selection of national coach Roberto Martinez. There was a medical explanation for that. Casteels decided to go under the knife to have a plate removed from his fibula that had been inserted in 2019 during a previous operation.
