At a meeting held in São Paulo this Monday, the 40 clubs from the A and B Series of the Brazilian Championship advanced in negotiations for the creation of a league to organize national competitions. After the meeting, Flamengo’s vice president for external relations, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, celebrated the progress on social media.

The creation of the league is, in the view of the clubs, a way to have a more attractive championship and also to provide better conditions for all participants. Currently, the tournament is organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
In the letter of intent elaborated at the meeting, the clubs express their will to “constitute the League to strengthen Brazilian football, standardizing their performance in private and public negotiations, aiming at efficiency, transparency and equal treatment”.
The presidents of the 40 teams defined that the group’s next meeting to discuss the league will be on July 22, in Brasília. It was also defined that their meetings will be monthly, while the meetings of the Working Committee will take place every week.
