Point guard Dusan Djordjevic, an indispensable link, the heart of the team and the right hand of coach Dario Gjergja with whom he is perfectly on the same wavelength, signed a contract for an eleventh season in Ostend.
“This Dôme is my home away from home,” says Dusan Djordjevic, whose roots lie in the Serbian capital Belgrade. “I never thought we would get this far. We reached a perfect 10 in league titles. Me and Dario? How did it begin? I do not know. It just happened. Now we are friends, brothers. My teammates are warriors. Young fighters”, the 38-year-old playmaker points out at the age of most of the comrades in the championship team. Half of the dozen players are only 22 or younger. “Last season it was war. A general likes a good war”, laughs Djordjevic whose pet name “The General”. “With a perfect 10, this could be the perfect ending. But it can also be the perfect start. I am ready for a heavenly 11. I will add another season in Ostend”, concludes the point guard. No one has ever played basketball for eleven seasons at BC Oostende. Djordjevic has also had Belgian nationality for a year and a half.
In the regular season, Djordjevic was good for 6.8 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists in 19’06”. In the playoffs he recorded 6.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 20’30”. In the Belgian Cup, Djordjevic scored 5.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 21’12”. In the Champions League he was good for 4.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 17’12”. His regularity is also reflected in these statistics.
