Alison Van Uytvanck (WTA 67) has qualified for the quarterfinals of the WTA grass tournament in Nottingham, England. In the third round, the Grimbergse defeated the Swiss Viktorija Golubic (WTA 72) in two sets. It was 6-1 and 7-5 after an hour and 29 minutes.
It was the first mutual duel between 27-year-old Van Uytvanck and 28-year-old Golubic. Van Uytvanck, the eighth seed, will meet the British top seed Johanna Konta (WTA 20) in the quarterfinals. That put the Ukrainian Kateryna Kozlova (WTA 159) aside with 6-2, 1-6 and 6-3.
Van Uytvanck and Konta already played against each other once, although that meeting dates from 2012 at an ITF tournament in Bath in England (on hard court). Then Konta won 6-2 and 7-6 (7/5). (belga)
