A day after their victory against Olympic champion China (FIVB-3), the Yellow Tigers (FIVB-12) were unable to provide another stunt against Brazil on Monday in Rimini, Italy. The number two in the world proved too strong in three sets: 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.
After four victories and as many defeats, the Belgians are ninth in the Nations League standings. On Tuesday, Serbia (FIVB-7) is the next opponent in the bubble in Rimini.
The top four after the group stage will advance to the final round. The Belgian women are one of the “challenger teams”, just like Poland, Canada and the Dominican Republic. They are therefore not guaranteed to participate. But in this edition there is exceptionally no relegation, so the Yellow Tigers will certainly be there in 2022. In 2018, Belgium finished thirteenth in the first edition, a year later they missed the final round in seventh but narrowly, which was finished with six at the time.
After the Nations League, the European Championships for the Yellow Tigers will follow next summer (18 August-4 September).
