The wonders are not over yet as the New York Knicks have qualified for the play-offs in the NBA. The last time the Knicks succeeded in doing so dates back to the 2012-2013 season. With three games to play, the New York team is sixth in the East, but can still jump to fourth place.

Thanks to a surprise victory by the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Boston Celtics, the Knicks are in the playoffs. Boston, ranked 7th, lost to the Cavaliers 102-94. It is the first time in 8 years that the Knicks will participate in the playoffs again. Not much was expected of them for the season, but they still managed to qualify. In the 2012-2013 season, that was the last time when one Carmelo Anthony was the big man with the team from New York. In the second round, the Indiana Pacers were too strong for Carmelo Anthony and co.

With three matches to play, the tension is to be cut in the regular part of the NBA. Due to the pandemic, ‘only’ 72 matches are played instead of 82 and the places for the play-offs are expensive. The first eight qualify for the play-offs, but there is still a vein in the grass. The numbers 7 to 10 will participate in the play-offs, thanks to a new rule. Number 7 will compete against number 8, the winner is the final number 7. The numbers 9 and 10 also play against each other. The winner of that match takes on the loser of 7 and 8. The winner becomes the final number 8 and qualifies for the play-offs. A complicated system, but so is the NBA.
