Andy Murray will train in Rome on Sunday with Serbian Novak Djokovic and Argentinian Diego Schwartzman in an attempt to speed up his return to the tennis court. The Scot has dropped to 123rd place in the world ranking after his operations on his hip.
Murray made his appearance at the Rotterdam tournament at the beginning of March. He was eliminated in Ahoy in the second round and then had to sign out for the tournament in Miami with a groin injury. He is now hoping for a wild card for the ATP tournaments in Geneva or Lyon in mid-May.
According to 33-year-old Murray, research has shown that his injury is not serious. He therefore travels to Rome for a training session, where Djokovic and Schwartzman participate in the Italian Open. “On Sunday I train with Schwartzman in the morning and with Novak in the afternoon. I would like to play against top level players. I think this can help me improve my game faster, ”said Murray.
He does not know if he will get a wildcard for Roland Garros, which starts on May 30. “I don’t care if that doesn’t happen. The organization must give the wildcards to whoever they want. I’ll wait and see, ”Murray concluded.
