For Rafael Nadal (ATP 3), the quarter-finals have become the final destination in the Masters 1,000 tournament in Monte Carlo (clay / 2,082,960 euros). The Spaniard lost against Russian Andrey Rublev (ATP 8) in three sets: 6-2, 4-6 and 6-2. The game lasted 2 hours and 33 minutes.

Rublev takes on Norwegian Casper Ruud (ATP 27) in the semifinals. In the quarterfinals, 22-year-old Ruud beat Italian defending champion Fabio Fognini (ATP 18) in two sets: 6-4 and 6-3 after 1 hour and 36 minutes.

Nadal has not played since his elimination in the quarter finals of the Australian Open. He celebrated his return in Monte Carlo.
