Pro League not afraid of stricter corona measures: “Already proven that professional football is organized in a safe way”

Pro League niet bevreesd voor strengere coronamaatregelen: “Al bewezen dat profvoetbal op een veilige manier wordt georganiseerd”

The corona numbers keep on rising. The experts are preparing a report, which the Consultation Committee will probably consider shortly. Even a complete lockdown is again possible. The Pro League, the Belgian association of professional clubs, is not concerned about the continuation of professional football.

“We have shown in recent months that professional football is organized in a safe way. So we are not immediately afraid of a new discontinuation ”, says Pro League spokesperson Stijn Van Bever. “We also have weekly contact with the virologists and can therefore make adjustments at any time if necessary.”

Just over a year ago, at the start of the first lockdown, the Jupiler Pro League was discontinued one match day from the end. Only in the summer, at the start of the new season, professional football was resumed in our country. The Pro League, in collaboration with the virologists, developed a Covid protocol to be able to do this in a safe way.
