The 24-year-old Chilean Cristian Garin (ATP-22) won the ATP tournament in Santiago (500,345 dollar) in his own country on Sunday. In the final he defeated the Argentinian Facundo Bagnis (ATP-118) in 2 hours and 35 minutes 6-4, 6-7 (3/7) and 7-5.
It is the fifth ATP title for Garin, who was born and raised in Santiago. He also achieved the previous four on clay: in Houston and Munich in 2019 and in Cordoba and Rio de Janeiro in 2020. He only lost a final once, also on clay: in Sao Paulo in 2019. The 31-year-old Bagnis played his first ATP final on Sunday.
